Directive (EU) 2026/470, Article 4(11)
Monitoring at least every five years
What is the requirement, in plain English?
A company must periodically assess its own operations and steps, those of its units and, where tied to the chain of activities, those of its partners, to check that the identification, prevention, mitigation and remediation of impacts is adequate and effective. The assessment uses qualitative and quantitative indicators where appropriate, follows a significant change without delay, and runs at least every five years or sooner where the measures may no longer be adequate, and it updates the policy and the measures.
What evidence does a regulator or an auditor ask for?
The monitoring report, the indicators used, the date of the last assessment and the trigger for any earlier one, and the updated policy.
